CWP is an arts-in-education organization that inspires children in underserved communities to read, interpret, and respond to their world and become active citizens. Since its founding CWP has trained over 800 Teaching Artists and over 4,000 teaching professionals and has empowered over 28,000 youth from neighborhoods where 70% of residents live in poverty and students struggle with the effects of underperforming schools; unstable households; and the linguistic challenges that come with recent immigration.
